Admission

Admission to SFS screenings is open to all and costs €9 per adult or €7 concession (students, unwaged or retirees) for one screening.  Ticket prices for single screenings include once-off membership. Unfortunately, membership subscriptions for a full season are currently not available.

Advance bookings can be made through our online ticketing system or entry can be purchased on the night via card payment or cash. We recommend for popular titles to arrive early to ensure entry.

Screening Time

Our screenings commence at 8pm. When attending a screening, the box office office opens approx. 20 minutes prior. We normally show a trailer for the following week’s film at the beginning of each screening.

Venue

Sligo Film Society is based in The Model, Sligo.

The Model is a contemporary arts centre and gallery space in Sligo; it houses the town’s municipal art collection The Niland Collection.

We have also called it home many times in our history; we currently use the theatre space which was added to the building as part of an extensive renovation project in 20o2. The cinema has a full size movie screen and 4K digital projector from which we screen DCP with a capacity of 205 seated.

Sligo Film Society operates it’s own box office on screening nights which opens directly outside the main entrance to the cinema 20 mins before screening time accepting payments by cash and card.

Directions & Accessibility

Getting to The Model

Coming from Dublin/Galway, follow the N4 onto the Sligo Ring Road and through several sets of traffic lights until you cross Hughes Bridge. Take the right turn as you cross the bridge, onto Markievicz Road, (signposted for the Town Centre). Follow the one-way system, taking a left onto Connaughton Road. Continue straight up Connaughton Road and pull into the second car park on your right hand side – you will see The Model building. The first carpark you enter is a metered daily car park and costs €3 per day, Mon-Sat 8.30am-6.30pm and Public Holidays 12-6pm. A smaller carpark, down the hill and accessible from the first car park, has hourly parking charges. There is free parking outside of the times mentioned above, and all day Sunday.

Accessibility

The Model is wheelchair accessible. There are dedicated disabled parking spaces in Connaughton Road Car Park. When you enter The Model building from the Connaughton Road entrance there is a lift on the right hand side of the staircase to take you one floor down to Reception which is also the floor where the cinema is located. There is also another lift situated next to Reception if you enter via The Mall entrance.

Additionally, there are two dedicated parking spaces at the side of The Model which are reached through our private driveway off The Mall. Access to the building from these spaces is via the ramp at The Mall entrance. When you enter The Model building, turn left, following the corridor along to the very end where there is a lift that will take you from Ground Floor to Upper Ground’s Reception area & Café and to onto the cinema.

To reach the Mall entrance by car follow the instructions above, but once you are on Connaughton Road take the second right onto Lake Isle Road, and then turn left at the cross roads onto The Mall. The Model driveway is on your left hand side about 500 meters up The Mall and has a wheelchair accessibility sign.

Please Note: Driveway access is for staff, deliveries and those needing wheelchair access only.

See themodel.ie for more information on their programme and the building.
