Synopsis
In this modern spin on the Greek tragedy Antigone, Twig is a young woman caught in the middle of a deadly Dublin gangland feud. She plans to secretly escape the city with her lover Eamon. Their plan is interrupted when a shootout leaves one of Twig’s brothers dead and another missing. A grieving Twig grows determined to defy the cycle of violence and find her injured brother – setting her on a collision course with ruthless crime boss Leon.
Driven by a fierce, captivating lead performance by Sade Malone, Twig marks the welcome return of writer/director Marian Quinn in the follow-up to her 2007 debut 32A. This film is a bold and intelligent contemporary take on a classic tale.
